New patients

First visit? Here's exactly what to expect.

No lectures, no pressure, no surprise bills — a careful look at your teeth, a plain-English chat about what we find, and a plan you can take home and think over.

01 / Your first visit

One appointment, four steps.

A proper look, an honest chat, a gentle clean — then every decision is yours.

Step 01

A proper look

We examine every tooth, your gums, soft tissues and jaw — plus your tongue, throat and the inside of your mouth. X-rays are taken only where there's a reason to, to find decay hiding between teeth and under existing fillings. It's how problems such as gum disease and oral cancer are caught early.

Step 02

A plain-English chat

Whatever we find, we explain it without the jargon and compare your options honestly — including the option of doing nothing yet. Any treatment we recommend comes with a written quote before it begins.

Step 03

A gentle clean

A professional clean and polish removes the build-up a toothbrush can't reach, and we apply preventative solutions such as fluoride where they'll genuinely help.

Step 04

You decide

No pressure, no upselling. Take your plan home, think it over, and book what suits you — or ask us anything first. They're your teeth; every decision stays yours.

02 / The offer for little ones

A pre-schooler's first check-up is complimentary.

We recommend a child's first dental examination at age three.

First visits for little ones are kept short, playful and gentle — a careful look and friendly explanations, so the dentist starts out as an ordinary, even fun, place to be. For pre-school aged children, that first check-up costs nothing.

03 / Health funds & paying

You'll know the cost before we treat.

No surprise bills — the quote comes first, in writing.

Health funds welcome. We accept the smile.com.au dental cover network, and patients from all major health funds are welcome — call (03) 9560 2702 with your membership details and we'll check your cover before you come in.

Quotes in writing, always. Every mouth is different, so we don't guess at prices. Once we've examined your teeth, any recommended treatment comes with a written quote — before it begins, never after.

Fees kept sensible. We believe in affordable dental care without compromising on quality — and we'll always talk cost before we treat.

Not sure what your fund covers?

Call us with your membership details and we'll check your cover before you book your first visit.

04 / Nervous patients

Nervous? You're far from alone.

Some of the patients who've been with us longest arrived dreading the chair.

Fear of the dentist is one of the most common things new patients tell us about — so appointments here are built around it. The whole practice runs as a calm, caring and stress-free environment: nothing happens in the chair before it's been explained, and you can stop us at any time.

If it's been years between visits, or a bad experience put you off, say so when you book. There's no lecture waiting for you here — wherever your teeth are at, we start from there, gently and without judgement.

05 / Before you ask

Questions new patients ask us.

Your health fund card if you have one, a list of any medications you take, and any referral or recent X-rays. If you arrive with none of those, that's fine too — we'll work with what's in front of us.

It fits in a single appointment, and we deliberately don't rush it. If we find something that needs separate treatment, we'll explain it, quote it in writing and book a follow-up rather than squeezing it in.

Yes — we look after patients of all ages, from a pre-schooler's complimentary first check-up to dentures fitted with patience. Many families book their check-ups together, and Mondays we're open until 7 pm, which helps after school and work.

No. However long it's been, our job is to help, not to lecture. We'll look, explain what we see in plain English, and give you an honest plan — you decide what happens next, and nothing is treated without your say-so.

Yes — we keep emergency appointments open every day and aim to fit you in as quickly as possible. Call (03) 9560 2702 first so we can hold a slot, and see what to do in a dental emergency.

Book online any time through our booking page, or call (03) 9560 2702 during opening hours. Mondays we're open until 7 pm — handy after school or work.
